Summary
A fourth xXx movie is still in early development, though audiences could be waiting a while for the return of Xander Cage. The last audiences saw of Vin Diesel’s action hero was in 2017’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage, which saw huge box office success despite middling reviews. Vin Diesel is also set to return as the character Riddick in the upcoming film Riddick: Furya, which will explore the character’s origin.
A fourth movie in the action franchise xXx is still in early development courtesy of production company The H Collective. Audiences have not seen Vin Diesel’s tattooed action hero since 2017’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage, but it sounds like a fourth movie is still on the cards. Though it could take a while…
According to a report from Deadline, xXx 4 is still on the upcoming slate of production company The H Collective, alongside a sequel to the 2019 horror/superhero movie Brightburn and several other projects.
The first xXx was released way back in 2002 and introduced audiences to Vin Diesel as Xander “XXX” Cage, a thrill-seeking extreme sports enthusiast, death-defying stuntman, and anti-establishment activist who is talked into becoming a different kind of spy by the National Security Agency. Starring Asia Argento, Marton Csokas and Samuel L. Jackson alongside Diesel, the first xXx was met with middling reviews but saw huge success at the box office.
Such success spawned a sequel, xXx: State of the Union, in 2005, but brought Ice Cube into the fray as a replacement for Diesel. Mauled by critics, xXx: State of the Union was a box-office bomb, leading to a long wait for the third movie, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, which brings back Diesel alongside Donnie Yen, Deepika Padukone, Kris Wu, Ruby Rose, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, and Toni Collette.
While the third outing was once again met with mixed reviews, xXx: Return of Xander Cage saw even bigger success at the box office than the first outing, with many now hoping a fourth movie will materialize.
So far, details for xXx 4 are thin, but it is expected that director D.J. Caruso will return to the helm, with previous reports revealing that Vin Diesel will star alongside Jay Chou (The Green Hornet) and Zoe Zhang.

Universal Pictures
A fourth xXx movie is not the only quartet that Vin Diesel is due to complete, with the action star also set to reprise the role of Riddick in Riddick: Furya.
A comeback that has now been a decade in the making, Richard B. Riddick was first introduced over two decades ago in the isolated sci-fi horror outing Pitch Black, returning for the much grander The Chronicles of Riddick in 2004. The last audiences saw of Vin Diesel as Riddick was in director David Twohy’s Riddick back in 2013, which saw the notorious antihero being hunted by a band of mercenaries on a desolate planet.
Riddick: Furya will be written and directed once again by David Twohy alongside creators Jim and Ken Wheat and is expected to delve into the mysterious origin of the character. “In the new film, Riddick finally returns to his home world, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins by the Necromongers,” the official description of Riddick: Furya reads. “But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new enemy. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”
Before any of that, Diesel will first wrap up the Fast and Furious franchise with Fast & Furious 11, which is scheduled to be released on April 4, 2025.
