Hugh Jackman is about to enter the MCU in Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds, and the actor has been busy posting on social media about the shredded physique that he is painstakingly developing for the role. However, recently, the Logan actor got into a social media scandal when he admitted that his body was all natural and that he didn’t take steroids. But there were very few takers of his words. The actor has recently been posting about his workouts and getting the physique comeback ready, it seems that his muscles really are all workout.

The 54-year-old actor got into a pickle when fans began wondering if the actor’s bulky and vascular physique even at his age was the result of steroid use. However, Hugh Jackman went on HBO’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace show and expressed that he didn’t juice up on steroids and instead went about developing his body the old-fashioned way. The Wolverine actor said:

“No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine. I got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that. And I was like, ‘I don’t love it that much.’ So no, I just did it the old school way. And I tell you, I’ve eaten more chickens — I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world. Literally the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”

During the same interview, Jackman said that he knows he can’t rush the bulking process for Deadpool 3. The actor said:

“I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time. So, we have six months from when I finish (‘The Music Man’) to when I started filming (Deadpool 3). And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.”

Prominent personalities like UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan have called out Jackman’s words. So is the actor trying to recompense for his words by trying to show everyone that he’s really working out the old-school way?

The X-Men actor has been frequently posting on his Twitter account about all the workouts he is doing for the upcoming Marvel film. He captioned his latest post with, “Paying for the baguette(s) and butter, tarte tatin and and and,” as he embedded a video of him working out. Apart from this, the actor had previously posted a photo of him lifting a dumbbell and showing off his massive biceps while tagging Ryan Reynolds, implying a cheeky competition between them

Jackman’s posts are a testament to his words. His confident workout videos and pictures depict the fact that he is fitter than most actors and isn’t afraid of showing off his natural body. After all, the actor has been bulking up for the role of Logan/ Wolverine for the better part of about two decades now. So he knows the physicality required to prepare for the character, unlike a new actor who will have trouble adapting to the rigorous routine.

As such, it looks like Jackman is just kicking dust in the faces of all his doubters and proving that he doesn’t need to rely on steroids. It’s also necessary to remember that most actors in this day and age don’t have to stay bulked up for the entire duration of the shoot. Most of the shirtless scenes are filmed within a couple of days when the actor stays dehydrated, which gives a vascular impression. So Jackman’s dissenters will surely do a double take when they check out the videos of him pumping iron even at his age with ease.

Deadpool 3 is set to premiere on November 8, 2024.
