“You lost every chance of it being a classic”: Vin Diesel Strongly Opposed Sequels Of Popular $7B Movie Franchise Before Making It A 12 Film Series

Hollywood is known for creating blockbuster franchises like Marvel and DC and fantasy series like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Now, they’ve struck gold with fast cars with the Fast and Furious, adding high-octane action to the mix. Starting as a normal action-adventure film The Fast and Furious, the movie just blew up into a saga with more than ten films, becoming one of the most successful franchises in Hollywood. Despite its all-success ventures, there hasn’t been any reliability; sometimes the movies hit the mark, but not every time.
Vin Diesel rejects the The Fast & Furious sequel and prefers the original classic.

Actor Vin Diesel is an integral part of The Fast and Furious franchise, as is Dominic Toretto, even from the successful inaugural film, 2001’s Fast and Furious. It’s hard to imagine the movie without his face and presence. However, after scripting a whole bunch of adventures, the actor’s absence in the subsequent sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious, is noteworthy because the actor doesn’t want to make a sequel. After grossing $1 billion, Diesel intended to maintain the status of his initial film as an enduring cult classic. In an interview with Access Hollywood, the actor denied the relevance of picturing a sequel.
“No, you can’t do the sequel to Fast; that wouldn’t be a classic like Rebel without cars. If you go to a ’90s movie in Hollywood, they didn’t know how to sequelize the films; the only one that came out perfectly was Godfather 2. Other than that, the rest of them sucked. Without you having to put in much effort, there is no point in sequelizing it”.

In the 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Diesel also explained that he “ironically” asked Universal not to make 2 Fast 2 Furious because he felt that it would lose its classic component. Diesel didn’t want to ruin the uniqueness of the first film, inspired by the 1998 Vibe article about Dominican street racer Racer X. Diesel was also offered millions to return to the franchise; regardless, Universal Studio went on to make two more Fast and Furious films without Dominic Toretto. The actor continued,
“After I made the first one, I remember being in a room full of big CEOs and the people who owned the franchise,” he continued. “We were at a dinner in London celebrating the film’s success. One of the guys said to me, ‘We have to do this again.’ I remember telling everyone at the table, ‘You can’t do this again. You can’t touch it. You have to leave it alone.’”

2 Fast, 2 Furious was successful worldwide, earning over $236 million worldwide. Finally, after Tokyo Drift, the actor continued to reprise the role of the patriarch, Dominic Toretto, a position that wasn’t initially intended for him.
Fast X’s success confirms a sequel coming in 2025

With the recent installment of Fast X to the franchise, it is understandable that there will be a sequel to the movie. With its recent release, the movie has grossed over $600 million worldwide, it has become one of 2023’s most successful movies. Vin Diesel once surprised the fans by hinting that the latest Fast X movie is just the start of a trilogy before its premiere. Before that, people thought that there would be one more movie after Fast X.
But the director, Louse Leterrier, recently said that Diesel was sharing his hopes, but that was not what was actually planned, he told Games Radar+. Due to the ongoing Hollywood strike, production work on the upcoming sequel is on pause. According to Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Vin Diesel himself announced it at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas, that part of the final saga story that will arrive in cinemas in 2025.

‘I am officially off the market’: When Margot Robbie revealed she made the ‘conscious’ decision of not dating actors

Margot Robbie revealed her decision to not date actors because of the media scrutiny that came with a public relationship of two high-profile actors
Back in 2015, A-lister Margot Robbie made a declaration that she would not be dating any actors. The actress may have alluded to her fiance Tom Ackerley, who she married the following year in 2016. In an exclusive interview with Marie Claire, she revealed that being in a relationship as an actor herself came with its own set of challenges. She believed that dating someone who was popular would add on to the media scrutiny.

Margot Robbie opened up on why she made a conscious decision to not date actorsTalking to Marie Claire, she claimed, “I am officially off the market.” She then shared the reasoning behind her decision and added, “I made a conscious decision not to date actors.” She continued to explain, “But not because I hate actors. That’s a nasty generalization to make, and that’s not the case. People take such an interest in your love life when you have a profile, it puts a lot of stress on a relationship.”
The Barbie actress continued, “So two people with profiles, I figure it’s just double the amount of scrutiny, and I’d like to avoid that at all costs.” This came after reports of her locking lips with Tarzan co-star Alexander Skarsgard started making rounds. It was reported that she was caught kissing the actor during the Sundance Film Festival.

Margot Robbie revealed she opted for a minimal lifestyle even after becoming an actorIn the interview, Robbie also opened up about how she was adapting to fame. She shared, “I have a normal 24-year-old life. If I were a waitress, I’d probably have the exact same lifestyle. I’d go to the same clubs I go to already, live in the same house with the same housemates, hang out with the same people.”
However, Margot Robbie tied the knot with Tom Ackerley who is an English producer and actor. The duo met on the sets of 2013 movie Suite Francaise where Tom was working as an assistant director. Post marriage, both of them launched their production company LuckyChap Entertainment.

‘Rocky’ Was Quite Different In His Original Screenplay, Sylvester Stallone Claims

Sylvester Stallone took his friend’s advice on a rewrite of the original screenplay to Rocky. A few tweaks later, he was on his way to major success.
In the new Netflix documentary Sly, Stallone discussed how he initially conceived of the project, which had a much harder edge. In the early version, Rocky was depicted as a “thuggish” character, inspired by Martin Scorsese’s crime drama, Mean Streets.

But Stallone’s perspective changed when a friend read the script and thought the boxer was too cruel for audiences to actually care about him.
Stallone recalled her crying.

“She goes, ‘I hate Rocky. I hate him. He’s cruel. He hits people. He beats them up.’”
Stallone took it to heart, and asked what he could do to soften the character.

“I said, ‘what if you stop short of it?’ Like, maybe he almost did. He could have, that’s his job, but he doesn’t?’ ‘That’d be nice,’” he added. “I said, ‘What if he had a girlfriend or something?’ ‘Yeah, that’s nice.’ So I go back, start writing that: ‘Girlfriend. Nice.’”
$117 million in box office later, a franchise was born.

Stallone also revealed that actor Dolph Lundgren sent him to the hospital during one fight scene in Rocky IV.
“Dolph Lundgren… he pulverized me,” Stallone says in the documentary. “Later that night, my heart started to swell—which happens when the heart hits the chest—and then my blood pressure went up to 260, and they thought I was going to be talking to angels. Next thing I know, I’m in intensive care, where I’m surrounded by nuns, and I thought, ‘OK, that’s curtains.’”
Stallone was in the hospital for nine days following the incident, praying for “one more round.”
“For the first minute of the fight, it is going to be a free-for-all,” Stallone told Lundgren. The Swedish actor joked in a separate interview that all he did was “obey orders,” explaining, “[Stallone] was the boss. I did what he told me.”
Doctors allegedly told Stallone that he received a blow to the ribs that made his heart rattle around in his ribcage, a condition typically seen in head-on collisions. “I did hit a bus, of sorts,” Stallone joked.
