What to Expect from Cobra Kai’s Final Season
Netflix
After capturing the attention of Karate Kid fans when it first premiered on YouTube back in 2018, Cobra Kai became a moderated hit, which was bought by Netflix for the third season after the original company canceled it. Its arrival in the streaming platform turned it into a global hit, extending the story and the legacy of the original films.
After the amazing performance of the fifth season, it was confirmed that the sixth installment will be the last of the show. Unfortunately, right when the team started to work on the new and final episodes, the WGA strike started and production is currently on pause, which means the next season will probably arrive next year or perhaps even later.
As for the story, in the previous season Daniel, Johnny and their team of young fighters managed to finally defeat Terry Silver, but a new threat is making its way back to the Valley. John Kreese is now on the loose, and he has some unfinished business to attend. As for the new dojo run by the former enemies and now allies, there’s a major challenge they’ll be facing. The famous tournament Sekai Taikai. Which could be the most intense competition any of them has even been at.
The future of the Karate Kid franchise will be expanding beyond the show, with a new movie already in development at Sony Pictures, which was also recently delayed due to the strike. Here’s the description of the new movie:
“Li is a skilled fighter and a student in Beijing who has his life uprooted when his mom decides that they’re moving to Brooklyn for a work opportunity. Li is grappling with a past tragedy and bumping up against his doctor mother, who is dealing with the same tragedy but in an altogether different manner. While his mom is against violence and Kung Fu, Li finds purpose by training Victor in the art and finds himself back in the ring as well.”
