Face it. We all miss Captain Jack Sparrow. But Johnny Depp trotted out his iconic character as a favor to a group of fans.

So take a look at this video that’s going viral on Twitter. Someone asks for Depp to tell Tanya hello.

“Tanya, sometimes I can’t help slipping back into that character that everyone knows his name but I forget,” Depp says as drunk Jack Sparrow. “However, I use to be him, still am him. We’ll continue, and then, and then, and then, and then I suppose they see it, really.

“However, I send you much respect and love and all that stuff,,” Depp says, then blows a kiss. And he leans toward the person holding the camera.

“Why is the rum gone,” he asks as he turns to see he’s cracked everyone up. Who can keep a straight face when Johnny Depp is Jack Sparrow?

“Why is the rum gone,” Sparrow asks again. Then finally, someone answers the question. “Because you drank it.”

Sparrow quios:”that’s a good point.”

“I suppose this is the positive side of having, in a strange way, given life to those characters like Captain Jack or whatever character that I was lucky enough to locate and bring to life the beauty of Captain Jack Sparrow. I’ll go to somebody’s house, man, I’ll perform at your kid’s birthday party at this point.”

And Depp continued: “I can travel with Captain Jack in a box – literally Captain Jack in a box – and when the opportunity is right and I’m able to go and visit people and places where the smiles and the laughs and the things that are important, the most important things in the world are on the line.”

Disney announced a sixth Pirates movie four years ago. But Depp isn’t part of the project. Rumors are that the newest movie will be female driven, possibly with Margot Robbie as the star. The script still is being written, so production isn’t expected to start any time soon. Johnny Depp has indicated that he does not want to return to the franchise, but he does still love the character.
